Ukraine love and World War III

There should be absolutely no doubt:
Support for Ukraine is bringing us closer and closer to World War III.
Just as
The Sleepwalkers
https://g.co/kgs/febNtD4
brought Europe into World War I.

See in particular
https://sonar21.com/danny-davis-and-i-deep-dive-on-ukraine/

The West better damn well pay attention to their words.
These two men are not known for speaking off-the-cuff or saying whatever comes into their head.
They are clearly and strongly enunciating Russia’s view on the use of NATO weapons inside Russian territory —
Russia will hit NATO countries if they provide weapons that strike deep inside Russia.
Something that Ukraine is demanding.

[ See, e.g.
https://www.politico.com/news/2024/08/26/ukraine-biden-targets-russia-restrictions-00176377 ]

...
There is a growing chorus of voices in Russia for action to punish the West
for its facilitation of the murder and maiming of Russian citizens.

We can endlessly point fingers on who is wrong, who should be blamed.

I firmly believe that Russia had and has totally legitimate security concerns
which the West has ignored.
It is up to the West to respect Russia's security concerns,
and stop enabling Ukraine to attack Russia.

And I think we should be clear:

If we allow Ukraine to do what the above says it wants to do,
there is a high probability, certainly well above zero,
that that will start World War III,
just as the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_Archduke_Franz_Ferdinand
led to World War I.

Just as those who assassinated Archduke Ferdinand were assisted by the Serbs, which led to Austria-Hungary declaring war on Serbia,
so too Ukraine is being assisted, both through the providing of weapons and in many other ways,
by the U.S. and other NATO nations,
in attacking Russia.

The similarity between
the way World War I started
and what is happening today
is way too close for comfort.

If you live in America, and see people promoting Ukraine,
you should inform them
they are in effect bringing on World War III.
And if they in response call you a "Putin puppet", just truthfully say
"No, I make my own decisions."

-------

This can only bring WWIII closer:

https://www.politico.com/news/2024/08/26/ukraine-biden-targets-russia-restrictions-00176377

"U.S. officials are still adamant that lifting the restrictions will not have a significant impact on the ground."

Maybe not, but that would certainly bring WWIII closer.

"Ukrainian officials are preparing to present a list of long-range targets in Russia to top U.S. national security officials that they think Kyiv’s military can hit if Washington were to lift its restrictions on U.S. weapons."

Note there is no evident concern about how the Russians may react.
Amazing.
Talk about one-track minds.

-------

For an excellent description of how serious the threat is,
listen to this four minute video from Scott Ritter, made on 2024-08-30:

https://youtu.be/DILiJSsFaG8

2024-08-26

Why, really, is this necessary?

"To address concerns related to teen mental health and substance use,
Arlington County’s FY 2025 budget sets aside $1.5 million in one-time funding to develop more after-school programming at some APS schools."

https://www.arlnow.com/2024/08/26/aps-kicks-off-2024-25-school-year-with-new-safety-and-enrichment-initiatives/

$1.5M$. That's a fair amount of money.

I went to public schools up until 1963.
I doubt very seriously they had the level of "after-school programming" that APS feels is necessary for
"teen mental health" and to mitigate substance use,

Something has gone very wrong,
when schools need to spend so much, not for education, but to mitigate social problems.

A policy issue Politico should have mentioned

Consider this article:

"Where Harris and Walz stand on 2024’s biggest policy issues"
By Declan Harty
08/18/2024 07:00 AM EDT

https://www.politico.com/interactives/2024/kamala-harris-tim-walz-policy-2024-election/

I did a page search on that for the word "Ukraine".
It turned up ZERO hits.
Politico doesn't think Ukraine is a policy issue that should concern American voters?

There is a book
The Sleepwalkers:
How Europe Went to War in 1914
https://g.co/kgs/Dv2Ez3L

That comes close to describing how America's "elite" is promoting a totally unnecessary conflict with Russia.

The American ruling class and permanent war

What are the thoughts, opinions, and issues of America's ruling class?

People may disagree on that,
but I think those are indicated by a combination of
the Washington Post, the ADL, and the Democratic Party.
Obviously, the policies in America aren't exactly those favored by any of those, but in many respects they are pretty close.

Now let us consider the issue of permanent war.
The Washington Post and the Democratic Party are clearly hellbent into getting the U.S. into a conflict with Russia.
You can read in numerous sources about how the Ukrainians are visiting destruction on Russia and Russians.
While some of that may be delivered by drones which were not made in the USA, much of it is delivered by delivery vehicles which were made in the USA:
HIMARS, ATACMS, and so forth.

And what does Kamala Harris say about Ukraine?
Take a look:
https://www.ukrinform.net/rubric-polytics/3898510-kamala-harris-pledges-continued-support-for-ukraine-in-its-pushback-against-russias-war-of-aggression.html

https://www.euronews.com/2024/08/23/five-key-takeaways-from-kamala-harriss-dnc-speech

"Harris reaffirmed her support for Ukraine against Russia's war of aggression,
in addition to strengthening relationships with fellow NATO members

"As president, I will stand strong with Ukraine and our NATO allies," Harris said."

Don't expect any peacemaking from her.

Now, why does she take that position?
Well, I certainly don't talk to her, but let me make a surmise:
That is exactly the position that the principal donors to her campaign want her to take.
As to how rich they are, see this:

"Harris’s campaign has raised $540 million since launch, Democrats say

...

Two-thirds of the first-time donors were women, the campaign said."

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/08/25/kamala-harris-fundraising-trump-election/

$540 million?
Wow, that's a lot of money.
That should buy a lot of TV ads.

Interesting choice women are making.
I can certainly understand their interest in their reproductive rights,
but should that have priority over putting the U.S. into permanent war?
Their choice.
We can see the issues that are deciding elections.

As to my view on this,
I think American missiles have no more business being in Ukraine
than Russian missiles have being in Mexico.
That is definitely a conflict America did not, and does not, need to get involved in.

America's involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict is totally unnecessary.
The only reason we are involved is because some people in America have ingested a deep and apparently unshakable hatred of Russia.

Ms. Smiley Face

The media just can't get enough of showing Kamala Harris (God forbid I mispronounce her first name: Ka-ma-la or Kam-a-la. Like this makes a huge difference.) with a smiley face.

Is that really significant?

Has there ever been a political candidate who had an equally high percentage of their photos in the media showing them smiling?

Promoting drag queens as role models for children

See

https://www.arlnow.com/2024/04/08/new-bomb-threat-protesters-disrupt-family-oriented-drag-event-in-crystal-city/

https://www.arlingtonva.us/About-Arlington/Newsroom/Articles/2024/County-Board-Affirms-Support-of-LGBTQ-Community-After-Recent-Threat

"Arlington County and the County Board unequivocally support the LGBTQ+ community.
ACPD's swift response ensured the safety of patrons and staff, and the fortitude of Freddie and drag queen Tara Hoot allowed the show to go on.

...

Freddie’s represents the very best of Arlington’s values as an establishment that prides itself on creating a safe and welcoming space for the LGBTQ+ community and allies by centering love over hate, understanding over unacceptance, and empathy over bigotry.

The Board, like Freddie’s, remains committed to ensuring Arlington remains a safe, welcoming, and inclusive place for our LGBTQ+ community. "

Yes, but they can't see anything wrong with promoting drag queens as role models for impressionable children.
I can.

My experience in Germany

For various reasons, I think it might be worthwhile to memorialize that.

In the summer of 1977, I spent two weeks in Germany.
I was on active duty in the US Army then, and this was what they call a TDY, paid for by the Army.
The initial part of the TDY was installing a computer system I had participated in developing at Field Station Augsburg.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USASA_Field_Station_Augsburg

I worked lengthy days at FSA,
but in the evening I drove on the autobahn west to the Gasthaus Zur Post in Zusmarshausen
https://www.posthalterei.com/ ,
which I had discovered via the Michelin Red Guide,
and arrived in its pub to enjoy a German dinner and beverage,
before I retired to my room for the night
(naturally, one of the least expensive ones).
A delightful experience!
All their staff I encountered spoke perfect English!
I wore my uniform as an American Army officer, but the staff couldn't have been nicer to me.
Evidently the hostilities of the 1940s were forgiven.
All in all, a delightful experience in Germany.

After that I drove through the Bavarian countryside by
Chiemsee, https://g.co/kgs/ebdxNo9
absolutely beautiful
to Salzburg.

The hillsides were like right out of "The Sound of Music."
One, perhaps 500 feet high, had a beautiful chalet near its top,
which looked like something from which Julie Andrews would emerge, skipping down the hill side, singing "The Hills Are Alive"
https://youtu.be/6f0T6UV-HiI
It was that sort of natural beauty.

-----------

With hindsight, looking back on this in 2024, almost 50 years later,
it's amazing how smoothly my trip to Germany went.

I flew into a German airport, probably Frankfurt, and rented a car, with just my American driver's license, credit card, and TDY orders.

With absolutely minimal knowledge of German, nothing beyond Guten morgan, Guten send, danke schoen,
I was able to figure out the roads and get from the airport to Zur Post and Field Station Augsburg.

All the Germans I met were extraordinarily polite, friendly, courteous, and almost invariably could speak and understand English.

As mentioned above, I then drove to Salzburg, and admired the
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salzburg_Residenz

Also, since I like mountains, a side trip to admire the
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zugspitze

I then drove on to visit other Army installations in Berlin (FSB), Frankfurt (V Corps), and Heidelberg (USAREUR), but nothing worth saying about those.

Totalitarians and authoritarians in Europe : the EU's crackdown on free speech

Please see this column from Jonathan Turley

https://thehill.com/opinion/congress-blog/4831049-eu-threat-free-speech-america/

That should make clear who the real authoritarians and totalitarians are.

Politically incorrect books on transgenderism

There are some books that present an IMO good view on this:

The Transgender-Industrial Complex
https://g.co/kgs/MFqPkAL

Trans: When Ideology Meets Reality

The left-wing totalitarians

For them, there is only one side of issues that matter to them: their side.
If you suggest there is another side to the issue,
you are guilty of something they have conjured up: bothsideism.
These people are really remarkable in coming up with phrases to which they can associate a negative connotation.

To see some examples of who uses the term "bothsideism", see

https://www.reddit.com/r/lgbt/s/9Kbu5FOAOQ

or

An asymmetry of asymmetries

Is the relation between Mexico and the U.S
symmetric?
No.
The U.S could nuke Mexico if it so chose.
(Of course it won't, but it could.)
Mexico has no corresponding capability with respect to the United States.

Now let us consider Ukraine and Russia.
Russia has the capability to nuke Ukraine.
If Ukraine joined NATO, or otherwise allied with the United States,
one can hardly doubt that the United States would give Ukraine the ability to nuke Russia.
We have seen far too many examples of the U.S. giving Ukraine U.S.-produced weapons to doubt that

The assemetry between the U.S.-Mexico relation and the Russia-Ukraine relation should be clear.

What a shame that so many in politics and the media are demanding such an asymmetry.

Unnatural

People of my generation (the baby boom generation) received a fairly consistent message:
"natural is better",
resulting in the popularity of "natural foods".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_food

Now, what could be less natural than "puberty blockers"?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puberty_blocker
What is being blocked?
Natural development.
Puberty is just nature taking its course.
Nobody needs to do anything special to make it happen, it just happens, naturally.

Going through puberty is a natural part of the development process, for all humans.
In puberty, the difference between males and females is significant.
Males and females have different puberty experiences in their teen years.

This difference is not the result of an "assignment at birth", in the Orwellian phrase favored by some, but the result of biological reality.
This is nature and biology telling young people, in an unmistakable way, exactly what sex they are.

Using expensive medical treatments to alter natural human development is simply denying biological reality.
It is an exercise in unnaturality.

When a girl starts menstruating, when a boy develops the ability to ejaculate, these are biological realities.
NOT part of, or the result of, a "social construct."

American teachers and Jewish lesbians

Some may disparage this,
but let me point out a fact:

Who is president of American Federation of Teachers?
A Jewish lesbian.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randi_Weingarten

Hey, teachers.
Is that who you want to represent you?
Can you not understand she has her own issues?

Stop "the Guardians" appellation

Look, if the USG wants to create a "Space Force",
I see no problem there.

But what should its members be called?

I think the term "Guardians" is highly inappropriate.
Lots of people in the U.S. deserve that title, starting with our police forces.

Why should members of the Space Force receive that title?

Would "Space Soldiers" be appropriate?
I don't know, but please don't annoint them with the titles "Guardians".
That disrespects too many other worthy groups.

Proven: WaPo lies

Specifically, consider:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/podcasts/post-reports/transgender-athletes-and-the-myth-of-inclusion-in-sports/

Here is a quotation from the web summary of the podcast'

"Jerry Brewer on the efforts to include – or exclude – trans athletes from the wider world of sports."

What a lie.
If a male pretends to be a woman, so the person can compete against real women in areas that should be reserved for real women,
and is prevented from doing that,
the person is definitely not being excluded from
"the wider world of sports".
The person can compete to the person's hearts content with men.
And good luck to the person.

In NO WAY is the person being excluded from the "wider world of sports".
To assert the person is being so excluded is simply a lie.

We get it:
If some male says "I think I am a woman",
then some psychologists will say
"Oh yes, you are a woman.
Screw the biological reality".

If the sports world says that,
in sports,
biology, not psychology, is what matters,
there is nothing wrong with that.

Who gets their way?

Suppose you said "I want X (X is something), and if I don't get it, I will commit suicide."
Do you think the powers that be would see that you got X?
Fat chance.

But now let's look at what doctors do with regard to the "transgenders."
Let some "transgender" say
"Unless I get gender-change "healthcare", I am going to commit suicide."
Wow! That's all the doctors need to give him or her the requested "healthcare", and sock the bill onto the larger society, through some form of medical insurance.

If this isn't a double standard, what is?

Cowards in the face of evil

What caused the killing of those six people at The Covenant School?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Nashville_school_shooting

Evil, pure and simple.
A word that today's Presbyterians, unlike John Calvin (a man many of todays Presbyterians have forgotten), cannot speak.

Can the people of Covenant Church and School squarely identify, confront, and oppose the evil that caused Audrey Hale to commit the horrible, despicable, evil act she did against them?
Can they look that evil in the face, identify it, and firmly oppose it?
Absolutely not.

They are too busy being cowards.
Disclose the evil that led Hale to kill their children and associates?
Oh no.
It would retraumatize us.

John Calvin was not a coward in the face of evil.
He confronted it and addressed it.
You should do likewise.

-------

For cowardice at its worst, listen to the weasly, cowardly words of Brent Leatherwood:

https://youtu.be/Ycez0GmKnTg

Speaking to whoever in law enforcement released some of Hale's depraved writings, Leatherwood said:

"you [the person in law enforcement] have now allowed this woman [Hale] who terrorized our family with bullets
to now be able to terrorize us with words from the grave."

Look, Leatherwood, confront it, don't hide from it.
Grow some balls.
Don't let mere words terrorize you or your family.
Quit whining.
Call out evil when that is appropriate.

As to
Hale's "words from the grave",
don't hide from them, condemn them.
Is that too hard for you?

The killing of white children

We are not supposed to talk about this, or recognize it.
But let's recognize it.
See

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_Southport_stabbing

Why were these three white girls killed?

Can it be other than racial hatred?

The left will ignore this attrocity.
We know, their focus on blacks as victims.
And their refusal to discuss when whites, for heavens sake only 9-year old, are killed.

What dirtbags the left are.

From a news report:
"authorities are not treating the incident as terror-related"

https://www.foxnews.com/world/king-charles-lauds-resilience-over-aggression-riots-after-criticism-he-didnt-condemn-uk-unrest-sooner

Not terrorism?
Then what the hell was it?
Watching three young girls being stabbed to sounds pretty terrifying to me.
And just why would a black man kill white children?
Any answer to that, leftists?
That is certainly interracial murder.

To demonstrate how utterly oblivious many on the left are,
see this from the same news article:
a university professor condemns
"this racist violence", referring to the protests by white people.
Can she acknowledge that the killing of white girls by a black man is racist violence?

All too many people have a one-way, biased view of what constitutes racial violence, ignoring the facts.

Photos of the girls that were killed are in this article:

When America fought communism, not autocracies

Sometime after 1980, the media and political elite forgot that prior to, say 1980, America was more than willing to support autocrats and authoritans of that would aid in what America then viewed as its principal foreign policy goal, fighting communism.

A leading example:
The support the U.S. gave to the Shah of Iran
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammad_Reza_Pahlavi
up until he was deposed in 1979.
Indeed, so tightly linked were the U.S. and the Shah linked in the minds of the Iranian people,
that when the Shah was overthrown,
Iranians showed their dislike for America via the Iran hostage crisis
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_hostage_crisis .

The ignorance of the Washington Post

Consider the article

The Trump-Vance ticket aligns the GOP with Europe’s far right

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2024/07/19/trump-vance-far-right-europe/

My response:
Vance has advanced certain positions.
Do those positions have a distinguished intellectual predecessor in America?
Absolutely.
The thoughts of Patrick J. Buchanan.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Buchanan
See any of his many books.

They are examples of a school of American conservative thought called "paleoconservativism"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paleoconservatism ,
that long predated Donald Trump.

For a long-running magazine that has presented the paleoconservative view, especially from a Catholic POV, see

https://chroniclesmagazine.org/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronicles_%28magazine%29

Evidently either people at WaPo are either ignorant of those facts or want to consign them to the memory hole.

My opinion:
The senior editors at WaPo know all this, but don't want to give it any intellectual respectability.
Instead, they want to act as if these ideas started with Donald Trump.

------------

Let me give another example.

The author of the WaPo article writes

"For decades, the Republicans styled themselves as ...
hawkish on the threats posed by autocrats abroad."

At least in the 1950s, the main focus of conservative foreign policy thinking was to oppose the spread of communism.
There was a slogan back then
"Better dead than red" which indicates what was considered the enemy.

We certainly made peace with some autocrats.
Like, say, the Shah of Iran
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammad_Reza_Pahlavi .
BTW, why did we support the Shah?
Because what was considered, by the American establishment, in those days to be the enemy, and a threat to America, were not autocrats per se, but the USSR and its ideology of Marxism.
And the Shah provided a bulwark against southern expansion of the USSR and Marxism.

"the sex they were assigned with"

Some people just can't stop using that absurd phrase.
E.g., here
https://www.scientificamerican.com/podcast/episode/sex-testing-in-the-olympics-and-other-elite-sports-is-based-on-flawed/

Some babies have standard male genitals (a penis and testicles),
some have standard female genitals (a vagina).
The recognition of those physical characteristics is not an assignment, it is a recognition of a physical and biological reality.

---------

There is, we are told, a consensus among medical societies on "gender-affirming care".
The following article looks at what produced that consensus.

https://www.city-journal.org/article/a-consensus-no-longer

"The main justification for “gender-affirming care” for minors in the United States has been that “all major U.S. medical associations” support it.
Critics of this supposed consensus have argued that it is not grounded in high-quality research or decades of honest and robust deliberation among clinicians with different viewpoints and experiences.
Instead, it is the result of a small number of ideologically driven doctor-association members in LGBT-focused committees, who exploit their colleagues' trust.
Physicians presenting different viewpoints are silenced or kept away from decision-making circles, ensuring the appearance of unanimity."

The article goes on to give an example of how a professional society suppressed discussion:

"In July, the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, a branch of the American Psychological Association,
forbade any mention of the Cass Review on its professional listserv. Doing so, the leadership suggested,
could cause “harm” to
colleagues with “very different points of view based on their varied life experiences.” "

Some examples of "defamation"

There is a well-known organization, the Anti-Defamation League
https://www.adl.org/
which
"fights all forms of antisemitism and bias".
Oh, so those are the issues they choose to confront.

Now, hello, ADL, I was a graduate student at Brandeis University from September 1967 to January 1973.
There was plenty of defamation going on there.

Examples:

1. Cops were called pigs.
2.. American soldiers who had served in Vietnam were called baby killers.
3. America was called, by some, Amerika.
4. OTOH, America was sometimes written as AmeriKKKa.
5..The bourgeois class, however defined, was systematically disparaged, condemned, scorned, and belittled.

(The pattern here:
things controlled by WASPs were to be disparaged and denigrated.
That which Jews controlled, e.g. "sun-tanned sabras" should be exaulted, praised, and glorified.
Unlike those sun-tanned Christians who fought in Vietnam.)

Do these not count as defamations by your definition?

I think it is clear the ADL's definition of defamation itself shows bias.

Getting out of the sanctions business

What nations has the U.S. sanctioned?
I don't have an exhaustive list, but some that come to mind are:

Cub
Venezuela
Iran
Russia.

I'm sure there are others.

Have those sanctions yielded good results?
More significantly,
should the U.S. be telling other nations how to run their affairs?
If, for example, Iran is a theocracy, what business is that of the U.S.?
Why can't they be a theocracy?
How does that impact the U.S.?
Of course, not at all.

For other U.S. sanctions, see

Where do black girls learn this?

I am a 70-something white male.
I never, ever, heard of bashing someone's head into concrete pavement, until they either die or suffer permanent traumatic brain injury.
As a white male, I just can't imagine doing that.
What a barbaric act.

But now let's look at reality, what some young black women have done.

First, a homicide:
https://mpdc.dc.gov/release/mpd-arrests-additional-teenagers-northwest-homicide

Second, the head bashing causing permanent brain damage.
https://youtu.be/wdSn6doB2_A

I don't think there can be any excuse whatsoever for such acts.

And in my 1950s era white culture, I don't think that could have ever been explained.
Such acts were simply inconceivable.

What "transgenders" do

Read this:

Olympic boxer deemed to have male chromosomes wins fight in 46 seconds, opponent left in tears after hard hits

https://www.foxnews.com/sports/olympic-boxer-deemed-have-male-chromosomes-wins-fight-46-seconds-opponent-left-tears-after-hard-hits

For more information on what led to this, see

Boxing champion angered over Olympic gender controversy: 'Definitely dropped the ball'

https://www.foxnews.com/media/boxing-champion-angered-olympic-gender-controversy-definitely-dropped-ball

Geez, can't people distinguish between women and men?

Talking about "gender" makes sense in some contexts,
but certainly not when it comes to athletic competitions.
There real, biological, sex is what is significant.
In that situation, drop the "gender" crap.

The attacks on, and killing of, children

I grew up in the 1950s.
Never heard of children being attacked or killed back then.

But now it is 2024.
Let's take a look at some horrifying news.

https://www.politico.eu/article/britain-uk-far-right-march-labour-problem-mosque-southport/

"three young girls — Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine — were killed Monday in a knife attack on a Taylor Swift-themed danced class.

A 17-year-old, identified as Axel Muganwa Rudakubana and born in Cardiff in 2006, has been charged with murder and attempted murder."

Hello.
Is it only the "far right" that is horrified by the killing of children?

We should all be horrified by the killing of children.
How utterly disgusting!
Committed by animals who don't deserve to live.

We know the left, with its designated victims.
And its ignoring of crimes committed against those whom it does not favor.

For another example (in Dublin), see
https://www.npr.org/2023/11/23/1215046533/violent-clashes-dublin-knife-attack
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Dublin_riot

Recent developments:

https://www.businessinsider.com/arrests-violence-riots-uk-far-right-wing-protests-immigration-2024-8

Is it only the "far right wing" that protests the killing of children?

Just imagine if the people so beloved by the left had been killed.
Would the people protesting such a hypothetical killing be described as "far left"?

Assaults

How many assaults occur that are totally unjustifiable?

Here is one that I suggest meets that criterion;

https://youtu.be/7Q3KBxut5aI

In a restaurant, for Christ's sake?
How on earth can this be justified?

Obviously, the three people who intrudented into that restaurant had a grievance against an employee of that restaurant.
Was their grievance justified?
I have absolutely no idea.
