Dems taking the Fifth Amendment for Hillary

The news media certainly has been avoiding this story,
but it is truly remarkable how many of those with knowledge of Hillary Clinton's activities
have been taking the Fifth Amendment to avoid answering questions regarding, among other things,
her email practices and related matters.

I think a very reasonable question is:
If Hillary did nothing wrong,
why are so many of those involved with her activities pleading the Fifth Amendment
to avoid answering questions about those activities?

Sure, one or two might have done wrong-doing independent of Clinton's activities.
But so many "bad apples" among those with knowledge of her activities?
You'd have to be a Democrat to think this isn't clearly a coverup of something that Clinton wants hidden.

Some major examples of Clinton's abettors who have pleaded the Fifth:

  • John Bentel, Department of State Director of Information Resource Management
  • Brian Pagliano, Clinton aide responsible for technical aspects of her email setup
  • Paul Combetta, Platte River technician
  • Bill Thornton, Platte River technician

Some detailed accounts of their stonewalling:

John Bentel, Clinton Email Figure, Takes Fifth Amendment 87 Times during Deposition
Judicial Watch, 2016-10-25

Judicial Watch today released the deposition transcript of John Bentel,
the State Department’s former Director of Information Resource Management of the Executive Secretariat (“S/ES-IRM”),
who was ordered by U.S. District Court Judge Emmet G. Sullivan.
S/ES-IRM is the office that handles information technology for the Office of the Secretary.
Mr. Bentel answered 87 questions with
“On advice from my legal counsel,
I decline to answer the question and I invoke my Fifth Amendment rights.”

...

Mr. Bentel, on advice of Obama Justice Department and personal counsel,
refused to answer any questions about
whether Hillary Clinton was paying his legal fees,
offered him employment,
or other financial incentives.
Pagliano also declined to say who was paying for his legal representation.

[Come on, Dems.
What innocent reason is there for refusing to answer those simple questions?
And why would the Obama DOJ support that refusal?
Sure sounds like a coverup, and a conspiracy to boot.]

Former Clinton State Department IT Official Takes the Fifth over 90 Times
by John Hayward
Breitbart, 2016-10-25

John Bentel, formerly the State Department Director of Information Resource Management of the Executive Secretariat, was deposed by lawyers for watchdog group Judicial Watch in U.S. District Court on Monday. He refused to answer by invoking his Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination… over ninety times.

Judicial Watch was particularly interested in discrepancies between Bentel’s statements on Hillary Clinton’s secret email server. In sworn testimony before the House Benghazi Committee, Bentel claimed he was not aware Secretary of State Clinton’s email was handled through a private server until reading news stories to that effect in 2015, when the email scandal was first reported.

However, emails have been discovered indicating Bentel actually knew about the server as early as 2009. Furthermore, the Inspector General’s May 2016 report on the Clinton mail server indicated that Bentel told his own employees that her server had been fully approved by State Department legal staff, which would clearly indicate he knew of its existence.

[Here is a sample of the questions Bentel refused to answer:]

With that out of the way, when did you become Director of the Executive Secretariat, Information Resource Management?

A On advice from my legal counsel, I decline to answer that question and I invoke my Fifth Amendment rights.
