And that has been quite standard in how the media have been describing this.

They refused to, in their own voice, declare this an assassination attempt.

If not that, what else was it?

A bullet actually striking president Trump.

Coming within an inch of killing him, with a headshot.

Again, if that wasn't an assassination attempt, what was it?
