Mutilation is not care
Currently it is common to hear that the mutilation of body parts simply because someone believes they were "born in the wrong body" is "care".
What a horrible abuse of terminology!
No, they weren't "born in the wrong body."
What a nutty statement!
Rather, they have a severe mental illness.
We should not "affirm" severe mental illness.
Let me emphasize a key distinction.
Some women, for example, suffer from breast cancer.
To ensure that that cancer does not spread, they indeed need mastectomy.
Here the purpose is to prevent the spread of cancer.
That is a totally different justification from breast removal to "affirm an identity."
Cancer is a physically observerable condition.
"Gender dysphoria" is the result of a mental condition.
People who think they were "born in the wrong body" should be given no more credibility than those who think they are Napoleon Bonaparte or Jesus Christ.
