What a joke
WaPo's desire to criticize Vladimir Putin has no bounds.
Consider
"Artists say Putin’s push for patriotism is killing Russian culture"
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2024/07/29/russia-culture-artists-putin-nationalism/
WHAT artists?
All artists? Some artists?
Of course WaPo can find some artists who will criticize Putin.
But the assertion in WaPo's headline is absurd.
Why does WaPo publish such anti-Putin crap?
BTW, for a detailed, scholarly, in-depth look at the complexity of Russian society and politics, see
The tragedy of Russia's reforms https://g.co/kgs/bi2Bwus
Far better than WaPo's idiotic propaganda.
------------
There is a parallel:
Artists in Russia, "celebrities" in America.
In America, who decides who is described as a "celebrity"?
It certainly isn't the average American.
No, a certain cultural and media "elite"
decides who is celebrated.
And their tastes and choices run decidedly to the left and political correctness.
You can see the hit job they are doing now on JD Vance.
In France, you can see how the French Olympic organizers celebrated, and put on the world stage, drag queens and obesity.
Is it likely to be any different in Russia?
I fully believe Igor Shafarevich almost surely got it exactly right when he described a "Small Nation" or "Little Nation" within Russia that had contempt and scorn for the values and worth of the average Russian.
See his "Russophobia".
And WaPo is documenting that now, in 2024.
Just look at its headline:
"Artists say Putin’s push for patriotism is killing Russian culture"
Oh yes, wonderful artists, bad Russian patriotism.
Igor Shafarevich would certainly have understood.
It is more than clear that the "Little Nation" of which Shafarevich spoke has come to America, and is firmly in control of America's cultural and media apparatus.
As to what gets described as "art" just consider the disgusting display that was described as "art" at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
This is the promotion of bad behavior.
